Follow your hopes and dreams - Goal setting made easy

It’s never too late to dream a new dream – or, for that matter, take action to realise an old one. Children never stop daydreaming, fantasising and creating stories about how they want their lives to be. When we mature and grow into adulthood, real life takes over and we forget to invest in our fancies. We believe we have to put up with what we’ve got and play small.

Perhaps you are at a point in your life when you are approaching a certain age and re-evaluating your life. How far you’ve come, where you are now and where you want to be?

Use the goal setting process below to explore all life areas. Career, relationships, health, friends and family, personal or spiritual development, finances, fun and recreation and the other areas of your life which could do with some clarity.

What is it you really want?

1. State your goal in the positive (i.e. “what I want to achieve is….”)

2. Write it down

3. Be precise (separate what is important from what is irrelevant or a distraction)

4. Set priorities (and motivate yourself by breaking the priorities down into individual tasks)

5. Keep actions small, realistic and achievable

6. When you’ve achieved your goal, take time to celebrate (build your confidence and set a new goal)

Having short and long-term goals gives you something to strive for and celebrating your successes along the way, builds confidence and resilience to achieve those things which are important to you.

If you feel blocked from achieving your goals in any way and want to work out what’s stopping you from reaching your desired outcome then do make contact to work with me on a programme of support so that you ca do, be and have more of what you want.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined - Henry David Thoreau
